Our Mission and value
Our mission is to provide compassionate, high-quality pediatric care that supports the health and development of every child. We partner with families to ensure children receive the best preventive and medical care in a welcoming environment.
Dr. Onyinye Onyekwere is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist in the Washington, DC metropolis (Maryland and District of Columbia). She specializes in General Pediatric, Benign Hematology – including Sickle Cell Disease. She received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, and has been in practice for over 20 years.
Prior to starting Advanced Neighborhood Pediatrics, Dr. Onyekwere completed her pediatric hematology oncology fellowship at the St Jude’s Children Research Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Boston and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, where she also staffed and later at Howard University College of Medicine and Center for Sickle Cell Disease.
Beyond education and experience, Dr. Onyinye Onyekwere is a very warm doctor with excellent bedside manner. Your loved ones will be well cared for in our clinic.

What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare. However, we do not accept United Healthcare Medicaid or Kaiser.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept payment by check or credit card. Co-payments and any out-of-pocket costs are due at the time of service.
Am I responsible for verifying my insurance coverage?
Yes. Patients are responsible for confirming that their insurance plan covers services provided at our facility. We cannot be held responsible for denied claims due to unmet insurance requirements.
What if I do not have full insurance coverage?
Patients without full insurance coverage are required to make payment at the time services are rendered.
How is my medical information protected?
We comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which ensures that all medical records and identifiable health information are kept confidential in electronic, paper, and verbal formats. Please review our Notice of Privacy Practices for more details.
